LIFE (Learn. Inspire. Fascinate. Engage.) A Novo Nordisk Foundation strategic initiative is seeking new colleagues, who are passionate about creating inspirational, fascinating, and engaging learning and teaching materials for children and adolescents in Denmark. The positions are temporary until 31 March 2020 with the possibility of extension.

Recently founded, LIFE aims to create a world-class learning laboratory that can gather key actors in education and contribute decisively to enhance scientific learning and education in Danish society as well as improve the standard of general scientific learning and education for children and adolescents.

LIFE a department within the Novo Nordisk Foundation is now setting up a vibrant, collaborative workspace in Copenhagen bringing together creators from different learning and teaching disciplines. LIFE has received a DKK 123 million grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation in connection with its establishment and expects to receive an additional appropriation of DKK 1.6 billion towards its further development over the next 10 years.

The Job 
Working closely with the LIFE team, the Officer, Learning Packages will be responsible for:

  • Developing experimental learning packages within Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (called the STEM subjects) to teachers and students in primary, lower-secondary and upper-secondary schools (STX, HTX and HF) in collaboration with other team members and external stakeholders

  • Proactively finding topics and themes for new LIFE Learning Packages

  • Primarily leading and facilitating the internal processes for feedback and collaboration on Learning Packages

  • Occasionally representing LIFE at conferences and other relevant events during the year, introducing teachers and schools to LIFE and Learning Packages

Professional Qualifications
Were looking for candidates with: 

 
  • Teacher training (primary and secondary), professional postgraduate teacher education Pædagogikum, relevant Ph.D. or Masters Degree in educational planning, adult learning, school-based learning or teachers professional development or similar

  • Strong analytical skills within science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics

  • Strong ability to communicate science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics in an inspiring and fascinating way

  • Familiarity with inquiry based education, knowledge of how students learn, and a practical understanding of how teaching is conducted in schools and educational institutions today

  • Understanding of the Danish national curriculum in primary and/or secondary education, and can translate research cases into curriculum and student learning goals

  • Strong communication skills in Danish and English (written as well as oral)

Were looking for candidates that are:

  • Able to create inspirational, fascinating, and engaging learning and teaching material for students

  • Innovative and creative in solution finding. Thorough work approach, quality-conscious and result-oriented

  • Able to work/collaborate around a common set of quality criteria and deliver teaching materials according to LIFEs templates, ensuring a common look and feel for LIFE Learning Packages

  • Excellent communicators and articulate

  • Able to give and receive feedback to/from both internal team members and external experts and teachers, and a high willingness to convert that feedback into excellent output
